Such an inspired fantastic class. She is a fantastic teacher. And build up the class in a very clear way. It's my first time combining watercolor with ink, but for sure not the last one. I really enjoyed the class, and painted afterwards to be able to watch first a technique that was totally new for me. I love her charisma, sense of humour and her support of the students. Fantastic class, and great inspiration! Thank you Ian, Terrilyn, Artefacto for this opposrunity to learn through a whole month all the essentials about sketching. I start looking the city and everything around me with new, fresh eyes. And I imagine sketches from everything I see.
I really enjoyed this workshop with David Smith, and greatly appreciate his gentle and frequent reminders to relax and enjoy the painting process rather than focus on the "happy mistakes". It was interesting to watch this painting develop; at first, I wasn't overly pleased with how my "waves" were turning out, but as they dried (and with the help of a little water splattering) they turned into something magical.
Nice sketch .. fresh and clean. The feel of the building tilting helps with a slight sense of vertigo as one looks up at a tall building. Pretty cool...
I think we discussed this on the regular submissions too. Here, you have definitely caught Sebastian Thommen's sense of living light and color as emotion. And I think I mentioned that I like the tilted horizon. It seems very intentional and therefore is making a statement. If it's just a little bit off, it feels like it was a mistake, but here it is giving a sense of "the world is unstable" as this child goes into the future. I did something similar .. a sense of unsettledness for a young person .. here admiring a late Andrew Wyeth painting. You're doing well getting emotion into your painting.
You've simplified the complex view so well and each has its own personality. Both have clean presentations. Excellent perspective and values working well. The final painting is especially strong
