For artists who are already painting – and want a year that actually moves them forward.
Artefacto Family: Your Artistic Path
You already know how to paint. This year is about finding out why you paint.
A structured year with world-class masters — so painting stops being something you keep meaning to get back to.
12+ masters • 30+ paintings • Lifetime access • From June 1
At a glance
Most art programs teach you more. This one teaches you to need less.
In 12 months, you will have 30+ finished paintings and a practice that no longer needs a perfect moment to start.
Is this program right for you?
The artists who get the most from this year need not be the most talented. They are the ones who show up with a specific frustration.
Find yourself in one of these.
You paint often. The results do not change. → Each month gives you one master, one focus, one finished painting. Plateau is hard to maintain when the structure keeps moving you forward.
You can follow a demo. You cannot yet paint without one. → Every master in this program teaches the thinking behind the brushstroke, not only the steps.
Not "great job". Something specific. Something you can actually use. → Your curator reviews your work every month and tells you exactly what to focus on next.
You have outgrown casual learning. You want structure, real masters, and a year that counts. → This program gives you all three, in one place, for one full year.
Your masters this year
Each of these artists has a specific idea about painting that most watercolor teachers never mention. This year, you get all of them
This is what you will paint
These are not exercises. Each one is a finished painting, made in one month, with one master. Look for the moment where the style suddenly clicks – that is what you will feel making it.
Your learning path
Every month has a master, a focus, and a painting to create. Here is the year.
Module: Creating Your Flow (Summer 2026)
Stop starting over every time you sit down. Build a practice that holds. Masters: David Smith · Konstantin Sterkhov · Iain Stewart
Module: Seeing Deeper (Autumn 2026)
Move from painting what is there to painting what matters. Masters: Pasqualino Fracasso · Amit Kapoor · Hazel Soan
Module: Mood and Atmosphere (Winter 2026-27)
Tone, color, and light as tools for emotion. Masters TBA.
Module: Story and Structure (Spring 2027)
Space, shape, composition as storytelling. Masters TBA.
New in 2026: the atelier year
Not 'follow me, paint what I paint', but an approach that supports you in finding YOUR personal creative voice"
That is what Atelier Year is.
Four times a year, Terrilynn reviews your work specifically and honestly – in a group of 30 – and tells you exactly what to focus on next. Monthly check-ins between. You always know where you stand.
Meet Your Curator: Terrilynn Dubreuil
"I don't look at what you painted wrong. I look at what you were trying to say – and whether it got through."
"In Atelier Year, I work with 30 artists. I know every one of them by name and by work"
Your community
The most unexpected part of the program, according to our students, is not the masters. It is each other.
200+ artists. Active every day.

Thank You. I have painted along for the first time. I liked it and will do it again.
I liked the calm instructions. Here is the result

Very interesting class, I like when work with the brushstrokes is loose. Also I liked the comments about the colors and to work with little sketch before to paint to see the values

Such an inspired fantastic class. She is a fantastic teacher. And build up the class in a very clear way. It´s my first time combining watercolor with ink, but for sure not the last one. I really enjoyed the class, and painted afterwards to be able to watch first a technique that was totally new for me. I love her charisma, sense of humour and her support of the students. Thanks Liz, Artefacto and Alison for this experience full of learning and joy!

I enjoyed this lesson very much. Some great paintings - and great tips like not to be discouraged if work isn't chosen for an exhibition and not to be afraid of good paper!! I'm happy with my colourful elephants. I hope we will have more lessons from Hazel!

What an exciting session, thanks a lot to Keiko Tanabe for this majestic demonstration. I was very interested in all the stages of the composition, from choosing the values and defining the atmosphere. Everything was very well explained and I learned so many techniques. Thanks, thanks so much.

Nice sketch .. fresh and clean. The feel of the building tilting helps with a slight sense of vertigo as one looks up at a tall building. Pretty cool.
The one with more color is vibrant and also has a good sense of freedom in the brushwork. It would be nice to have a bit more variety of colors in the tan buildings.

I think we discussed this on the regular submissions too. Here, you have definitely caught Sebastian Thommen's sense of living light and color as emotion. And I think I mentioned that I like the tilted horizon. It seems very intentional and therefore is making a statement. If it's just a little bit off, it feels like it was a mistake, but here it is giving a sense of "the world is unstable" as this child goes into the future.
I did something similar .. a sense of unsettledness for a young person .. here admiring a late Andrew Wyeth painting.
You're doing well getting emotion into your painting.

You've simplified the complex view so well and each has its own personality. Both have clean presentations. Excellent perspective and values working well. The final painting is especially strong

Personal Interpretation in Practice
Go beyond copying references. In this live session, George demonstrates how to build a painting from internal vision – using inspiration as a starting point.
Covers value structure, transparent shadows, expressive color mixing, and his signature "Chessboard Effect".
