Paint Ice With Vicente García Fuentes, Then Use the Same Principles in Your Own Landscapes
Paint Ice With Vicente García Fuentes, Then Use the Same Principles in Your Own Landscapes
At a Glance
In 2018 an artist residency took Vicente to the north of Iceland. Glaciers, frozen seas, and northern skies have held a central place in his work ever since.
On October 30 he paints two of them live, one realistic and one abstract, and you can paint along.
Is This Demo For You?
These problems show up in skies, water, and snow as often as in ice.
See how Vicente keeps water and pigment under control while the paper is wet.
See how he plans them and makes them part of the painting.
Vicente explains why each step works, so you can repeat it without the video.
You know his skies. This time it is ice, and you can ask him questions live.

What You Will Take Away
Two hours later you have a method you can repeat on your own.
Two paintings of your own
A realistic landscape and an abstract piece, if you paint along.
A plan for the white of the paper
You decide where the whites go and how they hold the composition together.
Textures that work together
Ice, rock, snow and water built from a few techniques that connect.
Control on wet paper
How water, pigment and transitions behave, so your washes stay soft without turning to mud.
