This program will be your first step and your guide into the world of oil painting. Even if you have never worked with oils before, Ivan's teaching is the ideal starting point. It gives you a major leap in skill and quality in a short time.

The goal of this program is not to teach you to copy the instructor or reproduce famous works. It is to help you understand the painting process from the inside, to see the intention behind every brushstroke, and to gain the skills for independent work with any portrait.
Ivan practices classical academic painting, the kind you see in museum collections. This program gives you foundational skills without requiring years of art school or university. It is a concentrated dose of academic fundamentals and decades of experience.

MODULE 3. Female Portrait
In this module, you will learn how to refine small details, study the technique of detailing, learn how to add personal artistic value to a portrait, gain a clear understanding of the stages of portrait creation, understand how to correct mistakes at different stages, and master the finishing phase.

MODULE 4. Male Portrait
You will paint a quick study of a man in a three-quarter view. You will learn about working in stages, achieving likeness, and the technical side of portraiture.

MODULE 5. Summary and Final Assignment
You will go through the entire process from start to finish. Find a live model, set up lighting, and use everything you have learned in the course to create a completely unique portrait from your own live model.
