What you'll see and learn:

Pasqualino works from a reference photo to a finished watercolor in front of you, and explains the choice behind every mark.

Landscape

How to reduce a street to the 3 or 4 massesthat carry it, and what happens to everything else

Abstract

How to set the perspective before the pencil: horizon line, eye level, and the size of a figure against a building

Portraits

How windows, terraces, cornices and railings appearwhen you take pigment off a dried layer instead of painting them one by one

Painting technique

How the lifting technique puts the light in at the end,so you stop guarding white paper from the first wash

Your workshop with Pasqualino Fracasso

Day 1
October 08, Thursday

Simplification, perspective, architectural elements, lifting – each one shown on a live urban scene.

Pasqualino paints an Italian street and pauses where the decisions happen: which shapes define the scene, where the horizon sits, how much of a car you need to suggest a car, and when to take the color back off. Expect a finished painting, plain talk about every choice, and a Q&A at the end.
