Meet your instructor

Mike Kowalski

  • Watercolor artist from California, USA
  • A signature member of NWS and AWS
  • Mike has won numerous awards at art shows, he’s taken part in more than 20 national and international exhibitions as artist and juror
  • He has been painting since childhood, started entering art shows as a teen and eventually earned a BFA from Utah State University
  •  In 2015 Mike was awarded the coveted Silver Medal of Honor at the 148th AWS International Exhibition in New York, and in 2018 he was invited to exhibit in the Masters of watercolor exhibition in St. Petersburg

Which materials do you need for the course?


Brushes: Mop Brush, Flat Brush, Rigger Brush, Fan Brush, Kolinsky Brush


Colours: Aureolin/Lemon Yellow/Windsor Yellow, Rose Madder Genuine/Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red, Yellow Ochre/Raw Sienna, Van Dyke Brown/Sepia, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue/Windsor Blue (Red Shade), Indigo, Viridian, Sap Green


You don’t need all of these colours, just a good red, yellow, blue and perhaps green and brown.
