Preparation
We will learn how to mix the colors for the future paintings and make a thumbnail to practice Jean's 3-steps painting approach.
Lesson 3
Mediterranean Harbor. Part 1
We will do a pencil drawing for the future painting.
Lesson 4
Mediterranean Harbor. Part 2
We will learn to synthesize, paint realistically but in a loose style and show details without accurate elaboration.
Lesson 5
Sketch a sea scene. Part 1
We will do a pencil drawing for the future painting.
Lesson 6
Sketch a sea scene. Part 2
We will paint in three steps, study the values, and see that it is enough to give the impression of details to make your watercolor look realistic.

Water is not so complex. Part 1
We will make a thumbnail to prepare for the future painting.
Lesson 8
Water is not so complex. Part 2
We will learn to see details at the surface of water, understand that water is not so complex, and train to create perspective.

Jean Francois Arnaud
- A member of the IWS France.
- Jean’s works were presented in prestigious art magazines, such as “The Art of Watercolor”, “International Watercolor Magazine”, and Spanish magazine “Acuarelas”.
- Jean regularly takes part in international watercolor exhibitions. Some of the biggest are: the 3rd International Watercolor Society exhibition (Bali), International Self Portrait Biennial of Albania (Tirana), 2nd International Watercolor & Spirits Triennial (Bulgaria).
- Jean’s workshops are visited by hundreds of artists – the tickets for them are bought many months before the events.
- Jean believes that achieving success in watercolor painting is not so difficult – you only need to know theory and understand how materials work. That is what he teaches his students at his lessons and workshops.

Which materials do you need
for the course?
- Cotton paper 300 gsm with rough grain
- 3 or more brushes: one big natural brush, one medium natural brush, a bunch of thin synthetic brushes
- Watercolor paints
- Tape
- Gouache – titanium white, extra fine
- One or two buckets of clean water
- A mixing palette (the best ones are in ceramic: Jean uses white plates)
- White gouache
