Introduction
You will meet the author of the course and learn about the materials you will need for studying at the course.
Lesson 1. Painting a Serene Beach Scene
At this lesson, you will learn how to create a stunning seascape watercolor painting, inspired by the beautiful Santa Cruz Beach in Portugal. Antonio Bartolo will guide you through capturing light water movements, reflections, clear skies, and the majestic rock of this picturesque location.
You'll explore material selection, focusing on color palettes, paper types, brushes, and drawing tools. Antonio will teach you about proportions, perspective, and composition harmony to bring your seascape to life.

Lesson 2. Capturing a Vibrant Beach Landscape
At this lesson, you will explore the art of capturing the sky, sea, rocks, sand, and their reflections with a brush and a palette of colors ranging from basic to exotic shades. Antonio will share his secrets on achieving realistic effects such as sunlight on water and the texture of sand through various painting techniques, including wet on wet, dry brushing, and lifting.
You'll also discover how to layer colors effectively to maintain the brightness of your painting and how to fine-tune the elements for a balanced composition.

- Antonio was born in Angola in 1962. Currently he lives in Torres Vedras (Portugal). He is a self-taught watercolor artist
- In 1998 he made his first individual exhibition. Since then he has participated in several national and international collective exhibitions
- His work is represented in several public and particular collections, both in Portugal and abroad
- He has been a curator of three events: the International Meeting of Watercolour of Santa Cruz, The International Watercolour Meeting of Caldas da Rainha, and the 1st International Festival of Watercolour – IWS Portugal
- Antonio regularly tutors small watercolor workshops and classes. He is also a founding member of AAPOR – Associação de Aguarela de Portugal (Watercolour Association of Portugal)

Materials Needed:
- Watercolor paints
- 100% cotton watercolor paper, 300 gsm, fine grain
- Brushes (various types including squirrel mop, Kolinsky sable, synthetic flat)
- Soft eraser, 6B and 2B pencils
- Kitchen paper
- Sponge for excess water or paint
- Tape and pencil for adding fine details
