Lesson 1
Introduction
Acquaintance with the artist. Organizational information, how to use the platform. The list of materials needed for the course.
Lesson 2
Direct light. 3D model
Learn to understand how light behaves and how reflected light is observed.
Lesson 3
Light on the snow
Paint a sunlit scene in the snow, observe shadows and reflected light, learn to find the right color for the shadows.
Lesson 4
Indirect light. 3D Model
Learn how indirect light eliminates harsh shadows and makes tones closely related to soft edges. Work with compositional and tonal sketches and learn correct perspective and proportions.
Lesson 5
Cloudy day
Learn how the first light is superimposed over the entire painting preserving small areas of white paper. Get a demonstration of indirect (ambient) light and observe softer, more closely related tones.
Lesson 6
Reflected light. 3D Model
Explore the theory by studying the examples of different types of reflections and reflected light.
Lesson 7
Reflected light. Composition
The most important part before the watercolor part is the discussion of design decisions and their reasons.
Lesson 8
Reflections on water
Learn how to feature man-made objects like boats that require accurate drawing before painting and make a painting showing the reflections and reflected light.
Lesson 9
Summary and conclusion
Summing up, getting feedback and doing a creative task using the techniques and knowledge acquired.

- Watercolor paper: Saunders Waterford 300GSM Rough Surface or Arches 300GSM rough or medium texture
- Paint: watercolor paint, Windsor & Newton, Art Spectrum, Daler Rowney, Rembrandt, Holbein, Schmincke Daniel Smith
- Brushes: size squirrel mop brush with a sharp point (Size 8 to 12)
- Watercolour board
- Plastic or metallic mixing palette
- 2B Lead Pencil or Mechanical Clutch pencil with fillable 2B Lead
- Water container, water spray bottle
- Old towel or sponge to remove/control excess water
