This course is dedicated to cities – places where we spend most of our lives. But do we pay enough attention to their individuality, their soul, and atmosphere?
Together with a master of cityscape and landscape painting Javid Tabatabaei, we will discover all facets of cityscapes! We will learn about volume and perspective, see how cities look in different weather conditions and at various times of day. But, most importantly, we will understand how to show the uniqueness of each city.
We will not merely copy reference photos – we will paint our emotions, our feelings and ideas. We’ll learn to turn on our imagination and make our paintings really captivating. Join the course and reveal the beauty of cities with Javid Tabatabaei!

Lesson 1
Rainy day in Berlin
In this lesson, we will learn how to paint a rainy day in a city, depict buildings and other subjects, show reflections on the wet road, and build perspective.
Lesson 2
Magical Istanbul
This lesson is about painting a cityscape in the wet-on-wet technique, portraying clouds in the sky, painting sea on wet paper, and adjusting shadows with brightness.
Lesson 3
Lights of the night city
Here we will see how to paint a night cityscape, show moon reflection on the ground, and depict perspective at night.
Lesson 4
Mysterious twilight
In this evening cityscape, we will learn to combine colors harmoniously, see how to create a mysterious twilight atmosphere, and work with perspective.
