Lotus Flowers: Stylization and Design

Get acquainted with an unusual approach to painting flowers and create a series of 4 fascinating stylized works, using the wet-on-wet and collage technique with Jayson Yeoh.

Lotus is the most mentioned plant in Indian literature, in China it is known as the paradise bud. For many peoples, the lotus flower is still associated with righteous souls, kindness of heart, and purity of mind.


In this course, you will learn how to convey the beauty and elegance of lotus flowers using the wet-on-wet technique.

You will also master different approaches to stylizing lotuses, for example, collage painting.


The course consists of 4 painting lessons:

  • In the first 2 lessons, we will focus on painting lotus flowers in the wet-on-wet technique. We will see how to use the elements of lines, dots, and surface in the composition of lotus painting. 

  • In the 3 and 4 lessons, you will learn the collage technique and master the nuances of brushwork for creating an abstract, dynamic image of a flower.

Jayson Yeoh

Author of the course

  • А self-taught watercolor artist born in Malaysia.

  • His artworks have been selected for exhibitions in both local and international shows. Some of his artworks also won several awards of International watercolor competitions.

  • Many of his works were also published in Watercolor Artist Magazine, English/French version.

  • Mr Jayson is regularly invited to the panel of judges for various international watercolor competitions. He is also invited as the curator of ‘Today Silk Road Special Exhibition of International Art Works’ and instructor of offline and online workshops. 

  • He is currently a member of The Malaysia Watercolour Society, Singapore Watercolour Society and the Penang Watercolour Society, and has recently been awarded the Signature status of National Watercolour Society, USA and American Watercolor Society, USA.
