Lesson 1

Introduction

Meeting the instructor, acquaintance with materials.

Lesson 2

It snowed in May

You will select materials for the future painting, make a pencil drawing and fill in the distant plan in the Mokromu technique. You will learn how to paint white snow with color, see how to convey graceful silhouettes of trees, and learn how to harmoniously combine the contrasting colors of snow and river.

Lesson 3

First greens

You will make a pencil drawing, learn how to paint a sky with clouds in watercolor and how to convey the glitter of water. You will also fill the foreground and background by combining wet and dry techniques. You will learn how to write light on dark, control local tonal and color relationships, and use handwriting and color saturation to convey the depth of space.

Lesson 4

Autumn in the north

You'll do a pencil drawing, paint the sky with the sun peeking through the clouds, add a bright yellow color to the foreground and start painting the mountains. You will continue to paint the mountains, conveying their textural features and detailing the foreground. You will paint the trees, intensify the tone and add contrasts.

Lesson 5

Northern Sky

You will paint a dark thunderstorm sky with clouds using the macro technique. You will learn how to preserve white without masking fluid and how to remove paint by drawing clouds with a paper napkin. You will paint a mirror-like surface of water with the reflection of a stormy sky in the wet-mocrom technique. You will add a forest in the far background and enliven the painting with a group of trees in the middle ground of the landscape. Set the final accents and finish the work.

Conclusion

Summary of techniques learned, feedback giving.

What materials do you need for the course?

Paints - any quality art paints in cuvettes or tubes (e.g. Daniel Smith, Sennelier, Winsor&Newton, Schmincke, White Nights, etc.).
Brushes: Natural round and synthetic brushes with a beveled tip, flutes.
Watercolor paper 100% cotton 300 gr.
Board and tape for fixing the paper
