you in it.”

Develop the ability to create depth and dimension in landscape paintings using perspective and aerial techniques
Improve your confidence and understanding of watercolor as a medium, moving away from detailed illustration toward a more expressive, loose style
Joe about the program...
“I paint because I want to re-create the beauty I see around us all, and put you in that same place. A watercolor painting can transport you to another world. It can convey emotion and beauty almost beyond imagination.”

Author's method

«Understanding what a place is about, knowing the people working in the area, and the history of a landscape allows me to be more observant and accurate. Truth is beauty. A painting must do this: put the viewer's feet on the ground—to place them in the scene. A good landscape painting doesn’t tell you how to feel, just as a real landscape doesn’t dictate your emotions. A painting allows you to generate your own response by immersing you in that place. The most challenging part of watercolor is finding great material. My main concern isn’t simply finding locations, but finding the right light conditions. I spend my time searching for the ideal light and figuring out the best time of day to visit a location.»

"My workshops show you how to create a real three-dimensional place on a flat piece of paper and make it so real and beautiful that you want to be there. It puts yourself and your viewers in that place. I have used every medium, I have sold many drawings, watercolors, and oil paintings internationally. Watercolor is by far the best medium for creating a place and putting you in it."
