Oil is one of the most effective, vivid, and interesting mediums. At this course, we will enjoy it to the fullest – put aside realism and detail, focus on creating light, depth, and texture, and have a lot of fun painting with intuition!
Together with an experienced master and instructor Sean Fear, you will master the simplest, yet very spectacular approach to oil, combining brush and palette knife, using blending techniques, and creating the impression of sea and sky with their help.
Painting with feeling, gaining more and more confidence, and experimenting with every brushstroke, you will create 4 loose seascapes and open up a new side of art!

Who is this course for?

Sunset
In this lesson, you will learn how to paint a dramatic sunset seascape using oil paints, with a focus on capturing the vibrant colors and dynamic cloud formations in the sky. We will explore the use of both brush and palette knife techniques to create rich textures and enhance the intensity of the sunset. You will also learn to depict birds in flight, adding life and movement to your composition.

Lesson 2:
Calm
In this lesson, you will learn how to paint a serene beach scene with an emphasis on capturing the soft colors of the ocean and sky using oil paints. We will focus on creating a sense of tranquility through smooth blending techniques and textural details, particularly in rendering the calm water and the sandy shore. Additionally, you will add character to the scene by including a small turtle, learning how to integrate focal elements naturally into your composition.

Moody
In this lesson, you will learn how to paint a moody seascape with stormy clouds using oil paints. We will focus on capturing the dramatic atmosphere of an overcast sky, emphasizing the contrast between the dark, heavy clouds and the subtle light breaking through on the horizon. You will also explore how to depict the gentle movement of the waves and the solitary figure of a seal on the shore, adding a sense of solitude and introspection to your composition.

- Sean is a self-taught British oil painter based in Athens, Greece. His art focuses on capturing the beauty of subjects using bold brushstrokes, rich textures, subtle colors, and deep emotional intensity.
- Sean’s love of art began at a young age, and he has spent years developing his craft and refining his style. After graduating from Falmouth University, Sean worked as a children’s book illustrator and drawing craftsman for clientele.
- Sean enjoys a spontaneous combination between realism and abstraction. His paintings are a testament to his love of nature and his passion for the art of painting. He hopes that his work will inspire others to appreciate the beauty of the world around them and to find joy and inspiration in their own artistic pursuits.
- Sean now works as an art teacher and graphic designer at a school in Athens and has private collectors of his paintings in Europe, Canada and Australia.
