We'll go over the main aspects of the techniques in theory to get the necessary base to move on to painting with aqua paint
Part 2. Mist over the Outback
Learn to capture the essence of atmospheric landscapes using a cool, subdued color palette. Employ the wet-on-wet technique to create depth and atmosphere in your watercolor paintings.
Module Three: Creating contrasts in our washes
In this module, you will learn how to introduce nuanced tonal values and transparency into your watercolor paintings. You'll master the skill of creating stark contrasts and subtle transparencies in a single wash, allowing for more dynamic and expressive artwork.

Part 1. Capture the skies
In this lesson, you will learn to capture the dramatic skies and rolling hills typical of a lush landscape. You'll develop skills to blend and layer colors, creating the soft transitions of a cloudy sky.
Part 2. Dawn's Whisper Over the Highlands
We'll focus on techniques for adding depth with darker tones in the foreground, contrasting them against the light of the sky to create a rich, three-dimensional effect.
Module Four: Building more definition within a wet wash
In this module, you will learn how to master the wet-into-wet watercolor technique to create paintings rich in soft gradients and subtle transitions. You'll explore the concept of 'lost and found' elements within your compositions, a method to suggest details without defining them explicitly.

Through practice, you'll learn to complete a painting in just two washes, simplifying the process to achieve a striking result with depth and nuance.
Part 1. Preparation sketch
We'll analyze the composition of the future painting on the example of a quick sketch and learn important aspects to achieve the desired result.
Part 2. Shadows and Silhouettes
You will learn to evoke the charm of urban scenes with watercolor. Focusing on light, shadow, and perspective, you'll bring a city alley to life, capturing the essence of everyday life and architectural beauty.
Module Five: Introducing colour variation within our washes
In this module, you will learn how to apply color theory to your watercolor paintings, using the three primary colors and understanding the interplay between warm and cool hues.

You'll practice mixing colors directly on the paper, which allows for a vibrant and spontaneous blend of shades. Additionally, you'll explore techniques to capture and represent interesting lighting effects, bringing a dynamic sense of realism and atmosphere to your work.
Part 1. Color mixing
We'll talk about colors and how to mix them properly to get the pure right hue without muddying them up.
Part 2. Twilight Harbor
You will learn to capture the serene atmosphere of a harbor at dusk. Techniques for creating depth with both color and perspective will be covered to give your marine scenes a realistic look.
Module Six: Creating atmosphere and mood with fluid washes
In this module, you will learn how to apply the watercolor techniques you've learned to create paintings that are rich in atmosphere and depth.

We'll focus on how to layer colors and manipulate tonal values to give your work a three-dimensional feel, making your landscapes and scenes appear more lifelike and immersive.
Part 1. Build a composition
You will learn to craft a cityscape with depth and perspective. Analyze the composition and necessary nuances on the preparatory sketch.
Part 2. Sunset over the Cathedral Street
We'll cover techniques for creating the glowing effect of sunlight on buildings and the deep shadows of an urban alley, all leading to a prominent dome in the skyline.
Module Seven: Conclusion
Summing up the results of the program, summarizing the learned techniques that helped to cope with difficult paintings. A creative assignment from Nicholas in which you are asked to revise and improve on your initial painting of the Australian outback, bringing your own individual creative aspects to it and emphasizing a larger wash technique.

- Nick is an urban designer by trade and over the years watercolour has developed from hobby to passion to lifestyle.
- Nick is inspired through travel taking memories, in the form of photos, sketches and plein air paintings, back to the studio to recreate the feel of light.
- This aspect of watercolour is what excites him as atmosphere and emotion can be fully expressed through the play of light.
- Nick has exhibited at various events in the UK including at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in Central London.
- Recently Nick achieved the top 200 Merit award in the 2021 International Watercolours Masters competition.
